How to Remove Password from PDF (Bank and Credit Card Statements)

Updated 2026-10-26 · 3 min read

Banks, credit card companies, insurers and payslip systems often send PDFs locked with a password. Typing it every time is tiring, and some portals or apps will not accept a locked file.

The Unlock PDF tool saves a copy without the password. You must already know the password: the tool removes a password you enter, it does not guess or crack passwords. The file and the password stay on your device.

Unlock your PDF now — Unlock PDF (Remove Password)

Step by step

  1. Choose the locked PDF Drop the password-protected PDF into the box, or click to choose it.
  2. Enter the password Type the password you normally use to open the file. Use the eye button to check what you typed. If the PDF opens without a password but blocks printing, copying or editing, leave the field empty.
  3. Unlock and download Press 'Unlock and download'. The new copy has '-unlocked' in its name and opens without a password and without restrictions.
  4. Many statements? Use bulk Switch to 'Many files (bulk)'. Enter the password once; it is tried on every file. Files with a different password are marked so you can change the password and run again. Download all as a ZIP.

Finding the password of a bank or card statement

  • The email that brought the statement usually explains the password format. Check it first.
  • It is often a mix of details like part of your name and your date of birth, but every bank has its own format.
  • Passwords are case-sensitive. If the tool says the password is not correct, check capital letters.
  • If you still cannot find it, contact your bank or card company. This tool cannot recover forgotten passwords.

Use it responsibly

  • Only unlock files you own or are allowed to open.
  • An unlocked statement can be opened by anyone who gets the file. Store it safely and do not forward it carelessly.
  • If you need to share it securely later, you can add a new password with the Protect PDF with Password tool.

Why remove the password at all?

Because the unlocking happens on your own device, your statement and password are never sent to an online server, which is important for financial documents.

  • Loan, visa and tax portals often refuse password-protected PDFs.
  • Merging statements into one file, or compressing them, needs unlocked files.
  • Your accountant or CA can open the file without asking you for the password each time.
  • Some PDFs open freely but block printing or copying. Unlocking removes those limits too.
