How to Resize Photo and Signature for SSC CGL / CHSL 2026 Forms

Updated 2026-10-26 · 4 min read

The SSC application form checks your photo and signature very strictly. If the file is too big, too small or the wrong shape, the upload fails and you lose time close to the last date.

This guide shows how to get both files right in a few minutes using the SSC Photo & Signature Resizer. It works in your browser on a phone or computer, and your photo stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded to us.

Resize your SSC photo now — SSC Photo & Signature Resizer

Step by step

  1. Take a clear photo and a clear signature Use a recent colour photo with a plain white or light background, face clearly visible, no cap or dark glasses. For the signature, sign with a black or blue pen on plain white paper and take a straight, well-lit photo of it.
  2. Pick SSC Photo in the tool Open the tool and choose 'SSC (CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD) — Photo' in the Exam and document type list. The width, height and KB limits fill in by themselves.
  3. Upload and position the photo Drop or choose your photo. Use the Zoom, Move left / right and Move up / down sliders so your face is centred and the top of your head is not cut off. The preview shows exactly what will be saved.
  4. Check the size and download The File size turns green and you see 'Ready to upload' when the JPG is inside the required KB range. Press Download JPG.
  5. Repeat for the signature Switch to 'SSC — Signature', upload the photo of your signature, and crop it so the signature fills most of the box. The 'Clean background' option is turned on for signatures: it makes the paper white and the ink darker. Download the JPG.
  6. Upload on the SSC website Upload both files in the form and check the preview the portal shows before you submit.

Typical SSC photo and signature requirements

These are the typical requirements from recent SSC notifications, and they are the presets the tool uses. Rules can change between years and posts, so always check the latest official notification for your exam. If a number is different, type the new value into the Width, Height, Min size or Max size boxes.

Common mistakes that get the upload rejected

  • Photo below the minimum KB. Many people only think about the maximum. The tool raises the quality, and if needed pads the file, so it reaches the minimum without changing how the picture looks.
  • Signature too faint or on lined paper. Use plain white paper and a dark pen.
  • Photo saved as PNG or HEIC. SSC asks for JPG; the tool always saves JPG.
  • Head cut off or too much empty space. Use the zoom and move sliders until the face fills the frame naturally.
  • Old photo or selfie with a busy background. Use a recent photo against a plain wall.

Tips for a good result

  • Take the photo in daylight facing a window. Avoid shadows on the wall behind you.
  • Keep the phone at eye level, about an arm's length away, and do not use beauty filters.
  • Save both downloaded files with simple names like photo.jpg and sign.jpg so you pick the right one in the form.

Questions

Are these the official SSC sizes?

They are typical requirements from recent notifications. This site is not connected with SSC. Limits can change, so always check the latest official notification and adjust the size fields if needed.

Why does the portal reject my photo even though it is under 50 KB?

Check the minimum size (often 20 KB), the format (JPG) and the dimensions. A very small file can be rejected just like a big one. The tool only enables the download when the file is inside the range you set.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. The tool runs in your phone's browser. Choose the photo from your gallery or camera and download the JPG to your phone.

Is my photo uploaded to your server?

No. The resizing happens inside your browser and the photo never leaves your device.

Can I use the same files for other exams?

Only if the requirements match. The tool also has presets for IBPS/SBI/RBI, UPSC and NTA exams, and a Custom size option.
